Düsseldorf welcomed us with open arms, nice autumn weather, excellent food and perfect organization. After having started in a typical restaurant “Himmel und Ähd”, which means “Heaven and Earth”, serving local food we visited the higher regional court on Friday morning. We were impressed by the history of the court building and the competence of the judges in particular with regard to patent law, where Düsseldorf is among one of the best in the world, if not the most attractive at all.

The seminar thereafter was about the retention of title clauses, where we learned that even in Europe there are very different legal approaches. Many thanks to the speakers and the interested audience. The dinner the same day was delicious and there were many good talks and laughs, which showed the family-feeling in IAPL at its best. Thanks to Huang for sharing two bottles of special whiskey with us!

After the AGM we had the choice for either a historical or an architectural tour through
Düsseldorf, which showed how much the town had changed over the last few years and how carefully the new architecture has been brought in.

The concluding farewell dinner was again most delicious, at “Malkasten”, where at the end some of us danced to the sound of a DJ at an engagement party, wonderful!

Düsseldorf welcomed us not only with nice weather but also the organistion was just perfect. Thanks again to the host Sabine with her team and Stefan for this nice AGM!
