Social Program:
Our utmost thanks go to Safak Herdem and his team. We had not only a lot of good talks, laughs and enjoyed our camaraderie in the company but we even did some dancing, be it in the legendary Oligark or in the roof top restaurent litera Saturday night. It was another exceptional meeting of the IAPL but in many ways special. It was our first time in Istanbul and it will be kept forever in our memory, maybe except the gun scene close to the Neyzen Restaurant (Traditional Turkish Cuisine Fish and Mezze House). We had excellent views and food in Hamdi Restaurant Pera (Traditional Kebab House w Galata and Golden Horn View) but also in the The Populist @ Galataport Istanbul but the utmost in the Khorasani Restaurant (Kebab Restaurant featured in Michelin Guide across Sultanahmet Mosque). The crowd on the street on Saturday after the end of Ramadan was massive and impressing Saturday afternoon and commuting became quite an adventure. Anyhow, our guide Serdar as well as Simge and Kortan (married to each other, which was not clear to everyone…) from the office of Safak did a tremendous job, holding our sometime demanding group all together. Despite the overcrowded old city we could see the Tropkapi-Palace and the Cistern, where James Bond and Dan Brown movies have been made. Thank you, Safak, again. We will return to Istanbul!
